The last two years I’ve had the good fortune of photographing PHL24, which was nothing short of amazing and inspiring. This year I’ll be filling a different role. I’m proud to announce that I’m one of Legacy of Hope’s sponsored 24-hour athletes. 

So, on September 11th, starting at 9am—and going for 24 hours straight—I'll be climbing the “Rocky” steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I’ll be in excellent company, as I push my mental and physical limits in order to benefit  Legacy of Hope's Emergency Patient Support Network (*see more info below).

I’m climbing to honor the memory of friends and family members who cancer took too soon; I’m climbing in admiration of friends and family who never flinched in the face of their cancer diagnosis, and who are still here fighting; I’m climbing to make a difference for those folks in the thick of their battles with cancer. 

The PHL24 is no joke. There will be aching calves, quads and glutes, and pains in areas yet to be discovered. There will be cramps, cottonmouth, and gallons of guzzled sports drinks. There will be blisters, chafing and possibly hallucinations (probably around the 3am mark). Most importantly, there will be friends and camaraderie, united by our vision and drive to help Legacy of Hope support financially distressed cancer patients in Philly. This is the PHL24.

I promise never to quit; I’ve committed to put my body on the line. But my commitment isn't enough. I'm asking my friends and family to contribute $25 or more to help support this important work. My goal is to raise $3000 for this year's PHL24. I'll reach my goal, and hopefully surpass it, if 120 of you contribute at least twenty five bucks. *A bit more about Legacy of Hope

Often described as the “Emergency Medicine of patient support,” Legacy of Hope steps in when cancer patients and families have exhausted all other resources, and no longer have the capacity to provide themselves with basic necessities. Creating the first platform in Philadelphia to address critical needs in the oncology population, social workers and oncology teams from every hospital and cancer center in the city can place emergency support referrals via the Emergency Patient Support Network. This growing network of partnerships with hospitals, grocery stores, schools, construction companies, Philadelphia Police Department, and local businesses then provide emergency patient support; with a response time less than 24 hours in the most critical cases.
