On September 19th, Trevor Budny and I will be ascending and descending the Art Museum stairs as a tag-team for 24-hours straight.

When Trevor was first diagnosed with cancer, I remember his wife telling us at the gym and while we had worked out together, I didn't know Trevor all that well. Not too long after the diagnosis, Trevor started running a mile every day because 'he still could.' The gym rallied around Trevor and we joined him in running a daily mile until he underwent surgery to hopefully remove his cancer. During this time, with each passing mile, I got to know Trevor and the kind of person he was. Trevor is the definition of a Hype Man, he will be in cheering in your corner no matter what is happening around him. So when Trevor went in for surgery, I didn't stop running, and I've continued running every day since (310+ days). Luckily, after many months of fighting the toughest battle, Trevor has come out running on the other side. Watching Trevor fight so hard to be able to do things that I take for granted is a lesson that will stay with me for life.

Not every cancer patient has the same story. There are individuals who come home from cancer treatments not knowing if their hot water will be on or if they will have food to feed their families. Legacy of Hope's mission is to provide support to local cancer patients and families facing financial hardships in our city. This is where the challenge comes full circle. Some may call us crazy, other insane - but Trevor and I will be walking those stairs for 24-hours straight in an effort to raise funds for this amazing non-profit. We ask that you consider supporting our endeavor by donating to the Legacy of Hope. The 24-hour stair climb is the major fundraiser for Legacy of Hope; however, with COVID restrictions, the number of participants is limited. Although there might not be as many people climbing this year, there is no less of a need for these families - please consider donating what you are able to for this amazing cause.
