In 2021, I was rushed to four hospitals in one week.
Three heart procedures, one chest tube, and ten days later, my life was forever changed.

I was healthy. I was “normal.” It came out of nowhere.

But the trauma of illness doesn’t always lie in the diagnosis—it lives in everything around it:
The first ambulance bill you thought insurance would cover.
The realization there’s no one to help you downstairs to grab a banana and take your meds.
The new identity of being “sick” and not knowing how—or who—to ask for help.

This September 13–14, I’ll be climbing the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for 24 hours straight as one of Legacy of Hope’s sponsored athletes in the 8th annual PHL24 endurance event.

Why?

Because illness doesn’t wait, and neither can we.

Cancer has touched my family in countless ways—as I’m sure it has yours.
And when someone is going through treatment, the last thing they should have to worry about is putting food on the table or how they’ll pay next month’s rent.

This year, the Brown’s Super Stores PHL24 fundraising goal is $250,000—bold, because our patients’ needs are urgent. With your support, we can fund the David N. April Emergency Patient Support Center and provide critical, last-resort aid to those facing cancer and crisis.

To date, Legacy of Hope has prevented hunger for over 8,000 cancer patients and family members in Philadelphia. The Emergency Patient Support Network is saving lives. Literally.
