PHL24 - it's my favorite day of the year. It's the day when 30 of us meet at the Art Museum steps in Philly to climb for 24 continuous hours. It sounds a little crazy because it is a little crazy. It's a day that was inspired by Carrie, and powered by my Dad and that reminds me to remember to keep going, no matter what.
On September 9th - 10th we'll climb step over step, all day and night so that cancer patients in our city will have food on their tables. But there's more...This year is special because as the Legacy of Hope footprint grows, we are poised to address another issue that many of the patients that we serve are facing; housing insecurity. For many of these families Legacy of Hope is their last resort, and all that stands between them and hunger or homelessness.
The $175,000 fundraising goal for PHL24 will be used towards purchasing and renovating a home that will provide temporary housing to patients and their family members in need. This year, we are committed to moving a mother and her 4 kids out of deplorable living conditions into this temporary home while other long-term solutions are developing. The Legacy of Hope Home will be utilized for future patients who are in a similar situation - faced with losing their home and being forced to a shelter, or to the streets.
My personal goal is $3,000. Every single dollar donated counts and is very much appreciated.
