I will be running the Philadelphia Love Half Marathon on March 26th in honor of my late friend, Brandon “BG” Gonzalez. Brandon passed after his fight with cancer on January 12, 2023, six days after celebrating his 20th birthday. Brandon was a fighter who kept his battles in the dark, because he never wanted for anyone to see him in pain. Rather, he emulated optimism, positivity, and happiness, and it was infectious with whomever he surrounded himself with. Brandon preached the mentality to “push through,” and while my training has not been easy, those two words have been in the back of my head whenever I feel like stopping. My goal is to push through and run this race for him.
